Want to Be More Productive by Using Your Android Device?

Android is quickly becoming an alternative to the Blackberry for corporate users. The devices are well-suited for communication and organization with lots of great apps. Most of the early Android phones have been discrete and lacking in any embarrassing physical characteristics like a pink case or stars and moons. (Although, the new T-Mobile myTouch is including both of those as an option).

But anyway, the point is, this is a work phone! Don't let that YouTube icon fool anyone... ahem. There's even rumors of possible Exchange Support in an upcoming Android release which would be fantastic and allow Android to rival Windows Mobile phones with Outlook integration. One thing is needed however, if you plan on using your smartphone as a work phone. (Games! I mean wait...) An Office documents viewer!
Mobile Systems's OfficeSuite Viewer (Android) opens up all the most common documents files including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and even PDFs. Not only does it support the old style files (.DOC,.XLS,.PPT), it even opens the new Office 2007 formats (.DOCX, .XLSX, .PPTX). Some of my coworkers have problems opening them even on their desktop computers, and they open easily on my G1.

Every document is easily scrollable by touch as is normal in Android apps. You can pull up the latest numbers in that TPS report while sitting in Starbucks or pull up the presentation that you'll be giving a talk on after your lunch break. Really, the sky is the limit on the number of new and novel locations you can now work in.

Phones with this operating system can be used for Android apps that make work and life a lot easier. If you just want to have fun there are some great Android games as well which you can find at Handango.com.
